September Trip to the Zoo

Yeah, we know, we go to the zoo all the time. But Luke loves the animals, Kendall enjoys all the fun stuff to look at, and it gets us out of the house for the day. We decided that the Sunday of Labor Day weekend would be a good time to go because most folks who were traveling would do it on Monday. Luckily, we were correct. He's a recap of the day:

Believe it or not, Luke was more excited about feeding the giraffes than looking at elephants, so we got to the giraffes very quickly.

This is a metal elephant sculpture Luke loves to climb on.
Perhaps the highlight of the day was taking Luke to lunch. We got him ice cream for dessert. After Jen quit eating he realized that there was an extra spoon. It was great, you could see the wheels turning as he figured out that if he had a spoon in each hand he could shovel it in faster! We laughed about him "two fisting" the ice cream!

He played peek-a-boo with Kendall.
Look, Mom, no hands!

This is the first time we've been to the zoo since Kendall started walking, so we decided she could also enjoy the splash park.
She started out a little slowly.
But soon realized the fun that could be had in the water!

Then Luke rode the merry-go-round with his mommy.
And Luke posed for a picture.

And on our way out he admitted that he was tired :-)
